Wrestlers Who Could Benefit From Leaving WWE

-Michael H. says doesn’t really matter because everyone is going to get frozen in their contracts. If he has to pick one then The Club is first choice. Put those two into the Elite universe and the fans will love the banter back and forth between them and The Elite. They are genuinely funny. WWE showed them on TV earlier in the month to dangle carrot in front of The Club. However, WWE the next week decided that Shane and The Miz are the best tag team on Smackdown. The Club’s personalities haven’t been explored at all. Michael S. and Adam agree.

-Michael S. chooses Rusev and Lana. They aren’t enough time on TV and sometimes not any. Rusev is more polished on the mic than he has ever been. He is very funny. The pairing with Aiden English showed his partner work. His selling is so good. Seems like he has only gotten one main event. Lana is a proper manager and can be good on the mic. They haven’t been letting her talk. Adam believes a new undefeated brute streak would be great for AEW. He is very versatile being a babyface, comedian and heel looks.

-Adam chooses Dolph Ziggler as his first choice, but believes he needs WWE to freeze his contract like they did Pac. Dolph could use the fans to be speculating about what he is doing and wonder about him. He needs a new character. Adam wonders if he is too good at selling making it easier for WWE not to push him. Michael H. says AEW can’t change his almost tribute character. Michael finds him boring even though he is good at wrestling. Michael H. can’t get excited about him. Michael S. agrees that with time away Pac got bigger and more interesting. This could work for Dolph. However, Michael S. feels he would just be rank and file for AEW.

-Adam’s second choice is Zack Ryder. He built his own following on social media without any WWE help. Perfect for AEW, but knows this is a slightly more obvious pick. Michael H. says AEW is going to needs jobbers. He can slot in there to sell. They could have him start off as having a losing streak to equal pity to get him over. Michael S. says Zack isn’t all elite like the name says. It is good if you are signing young guys or people not being used properly, but it is another thing to sign guys to sign guys. They can’t go down the Legend circuit.

-Michael H. says his 2nd choice is The Boss and Bayley. They need to start the women’s division with some big names. Two of the best around right now and AEW a big presence. So sad about what could have been from the NXT days to now. Michael S. thinks that would be a hard get. Bayley is so happy just to be in the WWE and they are so dialed in on using the 4 Horsewomen for Ronda. He doesn’t see any ambition to leave.

-Michael’s 2nd pick is Chad Gable. He sees him as good babyface in the WWE who has no idea how to book a babyface. AEW’s mission statement needs to be that they are going to do everything well that WWE can’t in order to compete. Gable is an incredible in-ring talent. Michael H. would like to be an utility of a tag guy, but also talented singles wrestler. He is versatile guy.

-Adam’s 3rd pick is Matt Hardy. AEW could pull off Broken Matt Hardy better than WWE because at least they would understand it. WWE doesn’t get his creative mind. Hardy can be a great booker with his creative mind especially since AEW isn’t using writers. Jeff Hardy may even come in with him eventually. Michael H. thinks he is a shrew operator. Matt saw his limitations and re-invented himself. WWE has wasted the Broken Universe.

-Michael S.’ 3rd pick is a pure straight hoss, Harper. He is about to return from his injury. He is a real wrestler’s wrestler. Adam and Michael H. agree. They would love to see what he could do. He has been hamstrung by the WWE.

Michael H.’s 3rd pick Drake Maverick. He is everything Vince McMahon hates by being extremely short. He made it work on 205 Live. WWE finished him off by having him urinate in his pants because he was scared. He will never be anything in the WWE, but guy who peed his pants. There is no way back and Drake needs to leave.

Rating: 8/10

I really enjoyed this pod especially since they didn’t choose the obvious like Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. These guys actually gave some thought to guys that really aren’t being used correctly or at all. I bet AEW actually goes after some of them. I think a big get would be Bayley and Sasha but do think it will happen with Bayley. Always look forward to their next roundtable discussion.
