Show Highlights:

Tom likes Kings of Leon

The hosts say how much Tom likes Kings of Leon. Tom does not know what they are talking about. Vince and Matt explain how the bass player tweeted out how he thinks adults should stop watching wrestling. This caused Vince to tweet back to the bass player, “f you.”

Vince and Matt go to Applebee’s before NXT.

Before the NXT house show, Vince and Matt went to Applebee’s because Vince has not been there in a long time and Arn Anderson once told a story in an interview about running into Tully Blanchard at one in their area. That could be the greatest reason to eat at a restaurant. They also went to an antique store near the arena that had old fashioned racist posters, ones that were wanted posters for slaves that had escaped. Who would not want that?! Ugh.

Tom thinks Jinder Mahal’s gimmick is racist.

Tom likes Jinder Mahal as a wrestler but he does not like his look and he feels that WWE is focusing on Bollywood and that is why he is a heel. Tom really does not like the turban being on a heel wrestler. The hosts have a discussion about it and Matt brings up that WWE is not making him a heel because of where he is from or his ethnicity. Vince agrees with Matt and all of the hosts agree that his muscle is a bit much on his frame.

Tom and Vince saw wrestling merchandise at different flea markets

Tom saw old school wrestling shirts at a place called the Melrose Trading Post. Matt was shocked that Tom did not tell them sooner. Matt wanted to know what they had and wanted to know sooner. The shirts are pricey but how can you put a price on a John Cena vs. Kurt Angle shirt? Vince went to the City College Flea Market and saw a Hulk Hogan wrestling buddy and a three-feet-high Hulk Hogan statue. He said it was almost creepy looking and it did not look like Hogan at all. Tom learned what Hulk has tattooed his arm. It says, “I am what I am.”

Vince and Matt go to a NXT house show in Riverside, CA.

Water was $5 at the arena and Vince did not understand how it could be so expensive. Matt liked the area the venue had for people to smoke cigarettes. Matt got a poster autographed by all the wrestlers that were on the card. Vince sat next to a fan that had not been to a live wrestling show since WCW. He did not know many of the wrestlers on the card. Vince asked to take a picture with him and the fan allowed him to post the picture on the internet. Vince thought he did not post the picture but it turns out that he made it his Facebook profile picture. Vince and Matt loved Patrick Clark and think he would be a big favorite of Tom’s. No Way Jose came out and started his conga line in the crowd. Matt jumped in and had a blast. Kona Reeves came out to face No Way and Matt said he played a great heel. Vince and Matt both liked how the NXT show was run and how quickly it went by. Bianca Blair vs. Ruby Riot was up next. Matt and Vince were impressed about how long Blair’s hair is. She used it as a weapon against Ruby and this started a conversation if a wrestler using their hair would be considered a foreign object and it is interesting that the opponent can not pull hair but the person with the long hair can use it. Up next was DIY vs. Riddick Moss and Sabatino Piscitelli. Matt thinks Tom would love Sabatino because of his body and how muscular he is. Vince thinks Sabatino is still really green in the ring. Tom thinks his gimmick of “making it rain” is really old, Matt says he agrees but the gimmick of cocky rich guy never gets old.

Matt gets a voicemail from Bruce Prichard!

Matt bought a shirt from Bruce Prichard from his website. Out of nowhere, Matt got a voicemail from him thanking him for buying a shirt from him. The shirt says, “Pronouns Pal” in the SummerSlam font. Matt said he heard that a lot from Vince McMahon when he was a writer for the company when it came to writing scripts for the show. Matt then tells a story about when he was in the company when someone in the back got fired for claiming they had information from people who worked at TNA. WWE had a meeting asking if anyone was to people in TNA. Former writer Ed Koskey said that he called Bruce Prichard to see how he was doing after heart surgery.

Back to the NXT rundown.

The next match was Kassius Ohno vs. Andrade Cien Almas. People were giving Ohno the Hacksaw Jim Duggan’s “Hooo!” for some reason. The hosts did not know why. The hosts said the match was very good. Vince says that the main event of Tye Dillinger vs. Bobby Roode was fantastic and really fun to watch. Vince and Matt said that it was the best match on the show and was great. The hosts said that the entrance is still over with the crowd and was awesome to experience live. The hosts quickly go over the other three matches. Hideo Itami vs Patrick Clark,  Oney Lorcan vs. Drew McIntyre, and Asuka & Lacey Evans over Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville.

Who is your favorite wrestler?

Tom Shinsuke Nakamura

Vince Bobby Roode

Matt Breezango

Overall/Score – 9/10

Great recap of the NXT show in Riverside, CA and a really fun show to listen to from start to finish.
